Your Safety Matters. Your Privacy Does Too.
This Privacy Policy explains how One QR Scan collects, uses, protects and manages information associated with our QR-based emergency communication and vehicle recovery services.
Privacy at the heart of One QR
One QR Scan is designed to help people communicate with vehicle owners and their trusted contacts during situations where immediate communication may be important.
A One QR Vehicle QR can be scanned by a person using a smartphone camera. Depending on the information configured by the QR owner, the scan page may display selected vehicle information and emergency contact options.
The purpose of a public QR scan is to provide useful emergency or recovery information without requiring the QR owner to publicly expose every piece of information associated with their account.
Information you provide to us
When you create and manage a One QR account or QR profile, we may collect information necessary to provide the service.
Account Information
Your name and mobile number used to create and access your One QR account.
Vehicle Information
Vehicle owner information, vehicle number, vehicle type and vehicle photo when provided.
Emergency Contacts
Names and mobile numbers of trusted family members and friends that you choose to associate with your QR.
Vehicle Documents
Documents such as licence, insurance, RC book, pollution certificate and health insurance when uploaded by you.
What happens when someone scans your QR?
One QR is specifically designed for situations where the person scanning the QR may be a stranger, a passer-by, an emergency responder, or someone who has found a vehicle.
The public scan page is intended to expose only information configured for emergency or recovery purposes. The scanner does not need to create a One QR account or install a mobile application simply to access the public scan page.
A smartphone camera opens the One QR scan page.
Selected vehicle and emergency contact information can be shown.
The finder may use the available contact options to reach the owner or trusted contacts.
Family and trusted friend contacts
One QR allows the QR owner to configure trusted emergency contacts, such as a family member or friend.
When these contacts are configured for public emergency access, their name and contact number may be displayed on the public QR scan page so that a finder or responder can communicate with someone who knows the owner.
Before adding another person's mobile number to your emergency profile, you should make sure that the person is aware that their contact information may be made available to someone who scans the QR for an emergency or recovery purpose.
Location information is permission-based
One QR can provide a location-sharing feature on the public scan page. This feature uses the scanner's browser location capability.
The browser may ask the person scanning the QR for permission to access their device location. Location access is controlled by the scanner's device and browser permissions.
A scanner can decline the browser's location permission. One QR does not need the scanner to share their location merely to open the QR page.
Your vehicle documents remain protected
One QR may allow you to upload vehicle-related documents such as a driving licence, insurance document, RC book, pollution certificate or health insurance document.
These documents are not intended to be exposed automatically as part of the normal public QR scan experience.
Protected Document Access
Access to protected vehicle documents requires the configured document security mechanism rather than simply scanning the QR.
